ABOUT ME
Welcome in Touristing in Palermo! My name is Corinna Scaletta, I’m Sicilian, curious and a free spirit; I love sea, colors, endless landscape and take life as easy as I can as it is too complicated on its own! I achieved a degree in Political Science – International specialization, a Master in Management of Tourism Services and a Postgraduate Diploma of Specialization in European Community Project Management. I currently speak English, French, Spanish, understand German and I’m learning Portuguese; I find that learning languages is a unique way to understand cultures.
I started this job just guiding myself! I am a traveler and love to wander around discovering hidden corners, talking to local people, seeing what is not revealed at first glance. Go with the flow it’s not for me as I like to experience what most appeals to me. That’s why I decided to became a tourist guide and to share my knowledge and my passion for my town and my island with everybody curious and willing to discover local culture and traditions. I‘ve been working in the field of tourism since I was fourteen years old: hotels, resorts, travel agencies, tour operators and I accompanied many groups around Europe as tour leader. In 1998, I became a qualified Tour Leader; since 2000, I’m a local qualified Tourist Guide licensed to speak English, French and Spanish. In 2009, I specialized as Wine Tourist Guide and accompanied many people to discover the beautiful reality of Sicilian wines and winemakers secrets. I’ve been a teacher in courses for aspirant tourist guide and since 2011 I’m in the management of Palermo Tourist Guide’s Association, actually in charge as president.
Despite all this, tour guiding has never been my main job, indeed I work as a project manager and consultant for tourism and internationalization of SMEs (mainly from the agrifood business sector), trying to put my expertise and efforts to help improve Sicilian growth. I really believe that each of us can give its small contribution to social and economic local development through its knowledge and daily activities.
Tour guiding still is more a passion than a job to me; it’s my personal way to love Palermo, so I’ll be glad to welcome you guiding you around and, through Touristing in Palermo, offering suggestions, information and curiosities about visiting the town at its best, to make your stay here memorable!
Hope you’ll be my special guest in Palermo!
